Carnegie UK is pleased to announce that Trewin Restorick, founder of Hubbub UK and Sizzle Innovation, will join the charitable foundation’s board as a new trustee in June 2025. This announcement comes as Carnegie UK publishes its Annual Report this week, highlighting the organisation’s progress, impact and strategic priorities over the past year.
Based in Dunfermline, the foundation works across the UK and Ireland to promote collective wellbeing through policy and practice. This appointment reflects Carnegie UK’s continued focus on ensuring its governance draws on a broad range of experience from across civil society, business and government.
Trewin Restorick is a pioneering environmental leader who founded Hubbub UK, a charity celebrated for its innovative approach to inspiring people and organisations to live more sustainably. He has received multiple awards recognising his impact in the recycling and environmental sectors. Currently, Trewin leads Sizzle, a new initiative looking at how to bring organisations together to make it as easy as possible for people to live greener lifestyles.
Chair of Carnegie UK, David Emerson welcomed the appointment: “We’re pleased to welcome Trewin to the board. His proven track record in driving innovative environmental initiatives and bringing organisations together to promote sustainable living aligns with our mission. Trewin’s expertise in transforming behaviour around climate and resource use will be invaluable in helping us think boldly and strengthen our work to improve collective wellbeing.”
Trewin Restorick said: “I’ve always been driven by the idea that lasting change happens when you bring together different perspectives to tackle big challenges. Carnegie UK’s focus on collective wellbeing, by looking at the bigger picture and working for the long term, really speaks to that and I’m excited to support this work as a trustee.”
As part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to good governance, Carnegie UK is undertaking a planned transition in its board and takes this opportunity to thank trustees Mike Reid, founder of Nine Patriots Consulting, who is retiring after nine years of service, and Megan Mathias, chief operating officer in the Cabinet Office of the Isle of Man Government, who is stepping down.
David Emerson said: “Our outgoing trustees have played a crucial role in guiding Carnegie UK through a significant period of growth and change, including the development and launch of a new strategy and brand identity. We’re incredibly grateful for their time, care and commitment, and we wish them all the very best for the future.”
This year’s Annual Report highlights Carnegie UK’s continued commitment to collective wellbeing and confirms long-term funding for the flagship Life in the UK index, now entering its third year. The index provides vital insights into whether people are living better or worse over time.
